Karyl L. Moesel (MBA, CLU) Karyl brings a wealth of experience to the LTC Advocates program. Following graduation from Juniata College, she served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps for 11 years before entering the insurance profession. Four years later, she opted to try new experiences which included retail management; working with an association in an insurance capacity, and owning her own Portrait Photography Studio for 12 years before finally coming home to the insurance profession. During the interim years although she wasn't directly involved in the
insurance profession she managed to earn an MBA as well as completing many courses toward a CLU designation (Chartered Life Underwriter). After returning to the insurance profession in 2009 she was awarded the CLU designation which is her proudest accomplishment.
Over the last few years, Karyl has developed a strong interest in Long Term Care particularly after having seven surgeries within eight years. While none of her surgeries were life threatening, she came to realize the importance of Long Term Care. A few years ago, when she started a new insurance position, she had the opportunity to obtain a LTC insurance policy without having to prove insurability. She jumped at the chance knowing that she would never be able to qualify for the coverage on an individual basis.
Since that time, Karyl’s interest in this area has continued to grow. She finally met a LTC Specialist who recognized her interest and knowledge and said “This is where you belong!”. The result is that she left an insurance position she had for five and a half years to pursue a career in Long Term Care where she is able to assist people make the choice to protect themselves so that they can remain financially independent. She does not want to see people lose a lifetime of savings with the potential for becoming destitute for an unfortunate situation that could have been prevented. Karyl knows from her own experience that having a LTC policy provides you with “peace of mind” knowing that the policy protects you from having to be reliant on others if care is needed.
Karyl believes that it is so very important to work with your clients to understand what their needs are; what assets are available and be sure that they are educated in the various options that might be appropriate for them. Every person’s circumstances are different and Karyl works with you to determine what the best options are for you, not your neighbor!
When not working, she enjoys embroidery, sewing and spending time with G. Ray, her kitty cat with a “giant” personality. Karyl is licensed in TX and VA. She is also available to conduct educational meetings with groups within the Northern Virginia area.
